Why did Trump keep William Barr as the DOJ when it was obvious that he was not looking into election fraud?

in fact, why did he have ANY of his cabinet members? they all stabbed him in the back at the end. why he had the DHS head, Krebs ? why he had the FBI head, Wray? on and on?

Trump most likely assumed Congress wouldn't have confirmed a suitable replacement into office. The Director of Homeland Security was never confirmed.

Despite the fact that the AG is required to remain completely apolitical and independent from the president, Barr was the most loyal official Trump had. If his DOJ didn't find widespread fraud, then there was none to find. It's time to rejoin reality.

After a while he had fired so many people he didn’t have anybody to replace them with anymore. Just like he can’t find a lawyer to represent him now in the upcoming Senate impeachment trial. He’s exhausted all of his resources. Now more than ever, because due to the Capitol insurrection he incited nobody wants to be associated with him at all anymore because it’s the kiss of death for their organizations, careers, businesses and so on.

Partly because Trump knew damned well that there WASN'T any election fraud.  Why bother to go through the whole rigmarole of finding a new AG when Trump knew his chances of mounting a coup to stay in office were very, very slim. He also knew that Barr's deputies weren't going to be any more amenable to the "election fraud" narrative than Barr was.

Everything little Donnie's said to his followers, his base, has been a sham.  He's merely been raising money and feeding his ego in his last months in office.

Barr was the Attorney General, not the Department of Justice.  Get your terminology right.
