He was a decent singer with good backing musicians.  I liked almost everything he did prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army.  After that, I liked him gradually less & less until, by the end, I thought he'd become only a parody of himself.

No. He has mediocre songs like everyone else, but most of his songs were pretty good.

His music was alright but it was a ripoff of the rock n' roll that was already popular in black communities and everyone pretended like he invented it or perfected it when he was just the mediocre Walmart version.
