When does day trading cease to be a hobby and become serious?

I have only dabbled to pay for holidays. Never did I buy more than $2000 worth.

Update:

Presently I have only $1000 tired up in day trading and 290k in my Roth IRA. Last time I sold off my day stocks I used the proceeds to take my wife on a holiday in Thailand.

If you're trading with real money then its not a hobby.

Using small amounts that you can afford to lose doesn't mean its not serious. If anything that makes it MORE serious because you're actually being smart about it and using bankroll management which is something that amateurs ignore.
