Internal: The back of the DVD/CD unit will have two connectors. Most likely SATA and POWER.  With correct wires (purchase a SATA cable for data connections) connect to proper connections on the mother board. SATA connectors. SATA1 will probably be the Hard Drive, so use SATA2.  Power connectors are usually available from the power supply internal, and may be tied up out of the way.  Simply untie, and connect to the back of the DVD/CD Device.  Secure the unit in the case using screws (most include this, many times the cage will have extra screws mounted to it.) You will need to open the front slats, if available to where it is accessible from outside the case. Turn on, test.

External: Usually connects to the USB.  Power may come from USB, but may also be from an external power cable which is sold with the unit.

    Check all parts before beginning.
