Will the people convicted for the riot in Capitol be able to keep the firearms they carried to the event?
..after they serve time in prison.

No, convicted felons are not permitted to possess firearms in the USA. However, if they are pardoned or their convictions are overturned, then they are not "felons", under the law and thus get back their right to keep and bear arms.
Not every crime in the capitol riot is necessarily a federal felony, so those would be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Nope. When they were arrested, all their guns were confiscated. Didn't they take your guns when you were arrested?

Not if they're convicted of any felony charge. Not that will stop them.

Every four years, I get a huge laugh at all the wackos (both left and right) who foresee impending doom on all fronts. C'mon people. The country is bigger than the 'communist', 'socialist', 'gun-nut' fantasies. I particularly love 'if x is elected, I'm leaving the country'. What idiots. It will be business as usual: some good laws will get past, some bad laws will get past, and that the average American citizen is good-hearted but rather stupid.

Ex-cons can't own or carry firearms.

If convicted of a felony and sentenced to more then one year in prison, they will loose the legal right to own or even carry a fire arm.
If they are deemed insane or in need of mental health care, until they are deemed sane they can not legally own or even carry a fire arm.
Being able too is different from being legal. Many felons already are able to keep a fire arm, but not legally.

If they took firearms then those guns will likely be confiscated as evidence.
If they are convicted then they will likely loose the right to own firearms due to a felony conviction.
If they are not convicted then they might be able to get the guns back.

not if they committed a crime which probably they didn't

Most were unarmed, however, carrying a weapon in DC requires a local permit. If they didn't have one, and got caught, you can bet they will be charged. DC doesn't screw around.

That will be up to the judge or magistrate.
