Why would someone copy the words of someone who hurt someone they loved?

I am watching a movie and there is a little girl who witnessed her mother being yelled at by a man. The girl was put into foster care and later on the girl yelled at the foster parent saying the same things the man said to her mother. Why would someone do something like this?

Children learn from their parents.  It's a well established fact that if your parents abused you you're much more likely to abuse your children.

Why do children copy adults behaviour? Is that what you’re asking? Or are you assuming everyone has seen the movie?
