Remember when the pop stations played more r&b music than alternative and rock ?
If you’re from a big city then you understand how most of the pop music declined. It used to be something you could put on with your bros but now they just play Karen soccer mom music. How come?

true. most 80's and 90's R&B music crossed over into pop, like Michael Jackson, the Commodores and Earth ,Wind and Fire. it's a shame what's happened to music in the last 20 years. it's almost nonexistent. and I blame the PC left and social media. a country music singer just wrote "Minimum Wage" and social media barfed all over it. they're sickening!

You’re recalling the past. Commercial radio is out to make a profit and rightly so. Trends come and go. For a station to stay in business, whatever is currently selling counts. They are not obligated to push certain genres.
Satellite radio and streaming is now fill these niches.
