Depends The cutlass was a more luxurious car .Rode better and had more amenities than the chevelle did .If you want performance and some comfort the cutlass is the one If your looking for performance the chevelle is the choice The cutlass if I'm not mistaken was heavier too .Chevy cars were considered to be below the  Buick ,and oldsmobile. When cadillac say had power windows for the first year Then you'd see the Buick have them the next or the olds .But whatever cadillac did new The next year you'd see it on buicks BUT NEVER ON A CHEVY Buick and olds were considered to be more too line while chevy was the last However chevy sales outdid  both olds and buick and pontiac too Making it the top sold brand of GM but a cutlass and a chevelle are two different animals one having more options available to it Chevy was the poor man's car back in e day WELL BEFORE THE 60s In the 30s and for decades The chevy was bottom of the gm barrel

They are basically the same vehicle.  Different badges.

It would be easier to find parts for the Chevelle. Oldsmobile at that time had a different powertrain and the whole line of cars became "Orphaned" not too long ago.

There was a reason by the way that us gear heads called it a "Gutless" back when they were being built and new.

Neither is more better. Neither will be a reliable driver.
