Apparently there's some guy in the UK who has been trying to convince a local authority to dig up the landfill, as he says he has thrown away a hard drive with tens of millions of pounds worth of bit coin on it. He even promised to give them a few million if they let him do it, but there's no guarantee it'll still work. I thought every bit coin account kept a record of everyone else's transactions, so I can't see why he needs to get the drive.
