Is it the height of arrogance to assume that by wasting TRILLIONS we can change the climate?! The earth survived this long without meddling.?

Look at the idiots who are running around like Chicken Little shouting "we're doomed". Have ANY of their predictions EVER come true? Stop the enviroNazis, they're picking your pocket for their folly.

Wow. It's rare that someone causes me to break character,  but here we go. Those who believe in climate change (most scientists) are NOT running around claiming imminent doom. Barring a clathrate gun event, any destruction caused by rising temperatures (and all the troubles caused by it) and shifting biome (and all the troubles caused by it) will be slow and barely noticeable and occur over the course of decades, if not centuries.  Normally, these shifts occur naturally over millennia.  The problem is not really these change, but the relatively quick pace of the change.  So no one is really panicking,  because there is no immediate danger other than a marked increase in severe weather,  which could just be coincidental.

Secondly, no once is claiming this will be the end of the Earth. Earth will endure.  It has endured far worse.  This problem will eventually self-correct, but the interim will be Hell and the prices will be heavy. But,  there is absolutely no reason to think all life will cease.  The only concern is that mankind will suffer.

There isn't even really doubt that humans will survive this.  We are intelligent enough to prepare and adapt our environments to survive any disaster short of a celestial collision or stellar event. It will be very unpleasant for those who live through this.

To be honest, the reason behind the gloom and doom immediacy is because action needs to be taken now to curb the situation before it worsens.  It may be already too late to stop catastrophe. Then again, there may be absolutely nothing that can be done, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Trillions of dollars will be spent,  not burned. That money powers the economy, so is never truly wasted,  regardless.  It is far better to spend trillions to prevent a disaster than lose quadrillions during said disaster.

That being said,  there certainly are those profiting off people trying to be environmentally friendly while providing no actual benefit. Purveyors of electric and hybrid cars are chief offenders in this.

You may see climate scientists as power-hungry liars scamming people out of their money, but the fact is that disaster is very probably unless something is done and, even then, it will still probably occur regardless.

only way to stop pollution and climate change is simple , kill the earths population , we cant fix it now anyway .

The earth also survived a long time without people.  Think about it.

IT is not the Earth that needs repair, it is the air and weather that will kill us fools if we do nothing! We will be long gone and the planet Earth will still go on with out us foolish people! FOOL!

The policies have never been about actually changing the climate. Climate change is global Marxism masquerading as environmentalism and preys on the easily led and weak minded.

It's amazing the arrogance of man to think they can influence climate one iota.. Then think how many fools fall for the folly.. All in the name of I'm a good person because I care..

I'm with you on this.  Planet Earth is billions of years old; goes through changes daily -  ALWAYS has and ALWAYS will.  I guess it's all about money.

Humans can have a big impact on the environment, but emitting CO2 has both harmful and negative consequences.  We can spend trillions on alternative energy sources but those that suggest it is necessary haven't demonstrated a credible threat that warrants a change.  Their proposals won't change anything.  They practically encourage growth from our competitors like China but then again many of them get money from China.   Bidens got millions from China, some in direct bribes.  McConnel's wife has a father that has a shipping company and he has gained millions from China.  Mitch McConnel is the Republican leader of the Senate and he is a snake.

The earth may have survived this long, yes. But there have been many many extinction events. Some exogenous, but many on account of environmental change. Which, yes is natural, but human action has undoubtedly and unreservedly catalysed the rate of environmental and climate change.

The reality of the matter is, that in the coming decades, humans and animals alike WILL be facing existential threats that have been caused by human action.

All the capital words, quotations and slander cannot refute objective, well studied and thoroughly proven science.

Do you seriously think the environment won't change after converting trillions of tonnes of oil into gas?
