of course, you need a video card that can output 1440p, or your monitor will only display whatever it can.

after all, raising the speed limit to 200mph does not mean your car can actually reach that speed. you need a faster car to drive faster on a faster road.

Any modern desktop that has an HDMI or display port output will work fine with a 1440p monitor.  However you will need an upgraded video card to play steam store games at 1440p.
