Can you write off a computer as a business expense?

I've done so many times. But I actually own a for-profit business and actually use the computers as part of the normal process of running the business.
If you don't own a business or the computer is for personal home use then you can't write it off as a business expense.

Yes, give it a try if it's Office Equipment and after business hours you might watch movies on it or do recreational stuff.

Business expenses have to be used EXCLUSIVELY for the business.
If this is your single computer and you use it for business and for personal = No, you are not legally allowed to use it as a business expense.
