is the Airbus A330 similar to the smaller A320 and A319?

    No. The A330 is a wide-body aircraft, and the other aircraft you mentioned are narrow-body. The A330 can also fly about twice as far.

    The two are completely different.  The A330 is mid to long range widebody jet capable of carrying up to 406 people, the A320 family is a short to medium range narrow body with up to 206 seats in a two class configuration for an A321.

    Having said that, a pilot flying an A320 can easily find his way around the A330's cockpit since they both share similar cockpit layouts.

    The A330 is a twin aisle wide body that competes with the 787 in terms of capacity.

    The A320 family is a single aisle narrow body that competes with the 737.
