Was my friend out of her mind when she got this tatted on her arm?

It was words saying 

"Life went on, but it was never the same without you"

I'm extremely mad because that was her first tattoo and its so depressing. Who even gets that tatted? Is there anyway to remove it? It's only been a week old. What do you guys think of it?
