the stated admission standards are high -- but the competition to get a place is fierce and most applicants far exceed the minimums stated.  every US medical school place is full every year ... and still we have a shortage of physicians.  That shortage leads to hiring foreign physicians from good medical schools who also have a strong command of English for jobs in America.  Many of them are far easier to get into, especially if preference is shown for their own country's applicants.  -- GL
