Ouch, this is such a restrictive list. And some of this stuff I haven't seen, though I'm sure Meryl Streep was great as usual.

I do agree that That Robert Downey Junior did a fine job with Iron Man, but it was not among the most challenging roles he has played.

I really did like Michael Keaton in Birdman. That's my pick for the best performance on the list, and he was perfect casting for that character.

I would have really liked to see Brian Cranston on here for his role in Breaking Bad, I think that was the acting performance of the century so far. I think a lot of the greatest acting performances in the last 20 years have been on TV rather than in movies, perhaps because movies have drifted further towards being driven by action and special effects, and streaming has opened up the possibility for many different genres of serialized shows to get a chance.

Robert Downey Junior gets the overall nod for being the perfect character actor for Iron Man in a whole series.

You have Russell Crowe at 8? Unbelievable. Erin Brokovich was a good movie/story, but I think Russell's acting outperformed Julia in every way. Even those fighting scenes required more skill than Julia climbing down and getting a 'water sample'.

Heath Ledger as the Joker, in The Dark Knight.  Amazing performance, that one, showing his acting ability very well, as that role was totally different from most he played.
