Could this possibly be the same Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who, along with other fiscally insane and greedy Congressional Republicans, peddled the dopey idea of giving UNPAID-FOR TAX CUTS to themselves and their richest multi-billionaire corporate donors and the nation's wealthiest 1%?  Socialism means "taxpayer funded, people owned"---so Congress itself is socialism in our representative democratic republic

Once a majority of the American people are given the COVID-RELIEF stimulus dollars (the $2000 amount passed by the Pelosi-led House in May 2020, but not brought to a vote in the Senate by Majority Leader McConnell) are given, the recipients will be SPENDING in local businesses (capitalism sparked by the checks), and those owners will respond by...guess what?  They will HIRE new workers to handle the increased DEMAND (more potential consumers) and those new paychecks will provide revenues through local, state, and federal plus FICA taxes.  The business owners will then ORDER NEW SUPPLIES to stock shelves...and this helps whom?  The recession-damaged SHIPPING INDUSTRY, for one, and also the MANUFACTURERS, creating more demand and therefore sparking MORE NEW HIRES...and so on in an ever-expanding upward-and-outward economic GROWTH SPIRAL (capitalism and socialism working together for the common long-range common good).

The SPENDING is the key, anonymous.  Richest of the rich to whom the off-course depressions-causing GOP give their DEFICIT-CAUSING (unpaid for) irresponsible tax cuts take those extra dollars out of the economy, mostly putting the dollars into OFFSHORE tax-dodging accounts, not benefiting the U.S. at all.  Middle-class and low-wage Americans SPEND, and capitalism is strengthened.

No, Mitch McConnell is not only short-sighted and uninformed, but is a hypocrite to the maximum level.

Mitch says that the stimulus checks are “socialism” for the rich, but by extension he also means stimulus checks for the poor and needy are also “socialism”. And we all know how much Republicans HATE everything they can label as socialism. Seems helping struggling Americans, especially in time of crisis, is not one of their concerns.

    His turtle brain of course.

  • Nothing.  He's completely wrong.  If you want to stimulate the economy (and right now, your economy is a dumpster fire full of feces), giving people money is a fantastic option.  He's good with giving Amazon $129mm, but giving people money to buy the essentials is somehow bad.

“Socialism for the rich, rugged free market capitalism for the poor”, for those who don’t know it, is a quote that had its origins in one of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speeches.  So now Mitch McConnell, who for some reason keeps getting reelected by the voters in Kentucky, the majority of whom probably don’t have a pot to piss in, is trying to convince us that MLK was one of his role models? Yeah, sure.  Get rid of this f cking guy please. Stop voting him back into office. Even Lindsey Graham is in favor of the $2000 stimulus check now.

So Granny “B itch” McConnell is basically saying that the majority of the people who are going to be getting this stimulus check, which he has now made it his life’s purpose to block, are somehow all “rich”. F ck you, Mitch.

I dunno but what it shows is that Mitch McConnell is like many Americans ... you can call something 'socialist' to gain support and be safe in the knowledge that those supporters won't bother to look up what the word actually means and realise you were lying.

No. The tax cuts he passed three years ago were socialism for rich people. The liability shields he wants for his corporate donors, so they can’t be sued if they recklessly endanger their employees, that’s socialism for rich people.

If it were really socialism for rich people, he wouldn’t have blinked before passing it.

Mitch -- like Trump and most other republicans LIES.   Socialism for the rich was 3 years ago when congress (that includes him as a senator) passed the trillion-dollar tax cut for the rich.  Now THAT was real socialism for the rich.  Republicans are against any amount of 'stimulus' that gives money to the middle class or the poor.  ===  By the way it is called a 'stimulus' because it is suppose to stimulate the economy --- 'they' know that the poor and middle class will SPEND, creating jobs and stimulating the economy.
