Can you conceal carry a mossberg 590 shockwave in Illinois?
Provided you have a CCW card, would it be possible to conceal carry the 590 shockwave rather than a pistol?

If it is a serious question, then you should probably probably directly ask the Ill State Police via the CCL portal. If you are just speculating, then I'll speculate too....
It's may be in a grey area, because the shockwave does not fall under the standard definitions of long gun, shotgun, handgun, pistol, or NFA AOW. It is simply considered a "firearm" (i.e., none of the above). If the shockwave was shorter it would be considered an NFA AOW (not a pistol). If the shockwave had a shoulder stock it would be considered a NFA SBS. So under ATF definitions, it is closer to an NFA weapon than a handgun.
The Illinois CCL applies to "handguns" and they define "handgun" to mean "any device which is designed to expel a projectile or projectiles by the action of an explosion, expansion of gas, or escape of gas that is designed to be held and fired by the *use of a single hand*". This definition is consistent with the ATF definition of a pistol (which excludes the shockwave).
So in short, you might try, but expect be arrested if you are caught and endure a lengthy court fight that you are not certain to win.

Not after Biden takes over. Maybe you should buy a couple dozen extra guns, in case he outright bans them.
