Doesn’t this study published this year further weaken the Out of Africa theory?

Present-day sub-Saharan Africans trace up to 19% of their genetic ancestry to an extinct archaic hominid species (Homo erectus or Homo habilis) that is NOT found in the DNA of present-day Asians or Caucasians. Modern Eurasians  did not descend from modern Africans. At the very least we all split from a common ancestor prior to any of the above.

“While introgression from Neanderthals and Denisovans has been documented in modern humans outside Africa, the contribution of archaic hominins to the genetic variation of present-day Africans remains poorly understood. We provide complementary lines of evidence for archaic introgression into four West African populations. Our analyses of site frequency spectra indicate that these populations derive 2 to 19% of their genetic ancestry from an archaic population that diverged before the split of Neanderthals and modern humans. “

Update:

@ Magui - this discovery destroys the original theory that present-day Africans were the original humans who migrated out of Africa and reached Europe and Asia. The present-day Africans having Homo Erectus DNA means humanity is not one species/race. We are more like hybrid species. This is a big change from what we have been taught for the last 50 years.

Ya... I never believed Caucasian’s descended from Africans... the thing is scientists always come up with new theories.. doesn’t mean they are always right. It’s just to me very impossible that we descended from black Africans. I mean we evolved from how we look we used to look closer to apes. But how is there all these different languages and hair colour and eye colour especially what whites have. If we descended from black Africans we would have to have melanin in our skin and at least look a bit like them. This all remains a mystery but I think it’s just gods work.

Those happened after our ancestors left Afrika, but all hominins are from the continent back until several million years ago.  Denisovans, Neanderthals and the like are, like us, descended from H. erectus, who were originally from Afrika.  Having said that, there's an endogenous retrovirus in all Afrikan primates except humans, which means our ancestors were absent from the continent several million years ago, possibly living on an island in the Gulf of Aden.

    No.

So Homo Sapiens Sapiens mixed with other races in Asia, Europe and now in Africa... So what?

It doesn't go against the Out of Africa.

Source(s): @Anonymous asker: We were all part of a small group of Humans that at one time even faced extinction and then spread throughout Africa and the rest of the world. The Out of Africa theory doesn't say that all people in the world are descent of present day Africans. Also there are many different population groups in Africa. Scientists say the San, also known as bushmen, are directly descended from the original population of early human ancestors who gave rise to all other groups of Africans and, eventually, to the people who left the continent to populate other parts of the world.

How about we just save the debate until they have it figure out for sure.

But personally I don't buy "out of Africa" or the Caucasian stuff

Supposing it does or does not weaken the theory, how does it affect you directly? What I'm asking you is: why is it necessary for you to transmit the results of this study under the guise of asking an information-seeking question? Please answer so that we can all rest assured that you're not simply a bigot with an agenda as currently appears. Failure to explain will lead most of us to come to that unfortunate conclusion.

Why exactly are you so obsessed with the “out of Africa” theory? Is someone paying you to determine if it’s true or false? How is this helping your life?💀

Most mammals have light skin that is covered by fur, and biologists believe that early human ancestors started out this way also. Dark skin probably evolved after humans lost their body fur, because the naked skin was vulnerable to the strong UV radiation as explained in the Out of Africa hypothesis.
