Is quantum mechanics required for the future of sustainable energy?

Do you think it will always be impossible to harness the power of stars and black holes and we must turn to the quantum scale for energy improvements. Can nuclear power always be improved on? What other particle interactions can be used as a source of energy?

Is quantum mechanics required for the future of sustainable energy?

No. Something as simple as better batteries might due the trick, allowing storage of wind and solar energy when neither are temporarily availble.

Do you think it will always be impossible to harness the power of stars and black holes...

    For us? Yes.

...and we must turn to the quantum scale for energy improvements.

    No as explained above.

Can nuclear power always be improved on?

    Yes; see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reactor#Futu...

What other particle interactions can be used as a source of energy?

Fusion and chemical to name a couple.

May be in a far future ; today's option still remains the last generation of nuclear power plants  followed, let's hope asap,  by nuclear fusion when it  becomes an industrial reality
