The anonymous answer is good apart from it should be 10,000  not 9,000 ie 0000 to 9999 and there are also other typos in it.

    10,000 - (9 x 8 x 7 x 6) - (9 x 8 x 7) = 6472

    9000 - (all different digits) - (3 different digits)

    9000 - (9*8*7*9) - (9*8*9*6)

    = 576
