    Gee ... a $5/hr differential. Call/set time 0 at $7/hr ... then $7 + 50 x 5 = 257 ... before taxes.

    The increase in $ per hour is uniform ( 17 - 12 ) = $ 5

This indicates an Arithmetic progressive payment with first term = $ 12, common

difference = $ 5 and we are required to find the 50th Term :

    T(50)  =  12 + 5 (50-1) =  12 + 245 = $ 257  ............. Answer
