how does covid testing work?

I am planning to travel from iowa to florida over the holidays this month but i wanna get tested before flying, i hear it can take up to 3 days before getting ur test results back, do you have to go back to the place to get your paper work test results in person ? is it required to get tested before flying domestically ?

You have to speak with the specific organization/company that is doing the testing you select in order to know how quickly they can return a result and exactly how you will get your test results delivered to you.  There is never a guarantee that you'll get your test results by the date they say.

You do not need a COVD test to fly domestically. Testing prior to travel gives you some assurance that you were negative on the day of the test but doesn't guarantee that you were not exposed after getting the test -- or that you tested too early for have a viral load.   Nearly all states are asking travelers to self-quarantine once they reach their destination because they are just as likely to have been exposed during their travels as they were 3-7 days prior to travel.
