Were there general stores and shops around, back when Jesus existed? ?

    Jesus had a loyalty card.

    People bought and sold in Biblical times as they do now. Obviously not so many products, but businesses certainly did exist.  In fact, several of Jesus disciples were involved in the process.

    Yes, they even found packaged beef jerky from that time and it was still edible.

    There were your agnostic brothers, instead of praying to God in church, they were near the church door selling pigeons, changing money, etc....!

    Matthew 21:12-13.

    12 Jesus entered into the temple, and cast out all who sold and bought; he overthrew the tables of the money changers and the chairs of the pigeon sellers. 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but ye make it a den of thieves.

    Yes, absolutely. Alexander the Great and his Greek forces rode all the way up to the Jewish Temple Mount in Jerusalem in 300 b.c. (roughly 300 years before Jesus). Greek culture surrounded Jerusalem and was in Jerusalem (including shops, European entertainment, Greek philosophy at the time of Jesus.
