Total # shares = 4+1 = 5

1 share = 15/5 = 3 biscuits

Gemma gets 1 share = 3 biscuits ..............ANS

Zak gets 4 shares = 4(3) = 12 biscuits........ANS

Let 1k be the amount that Gemma gets

Let 4k be the amount that Zak gets

1k + 4k = 15

5k = 15

k = 15/5

k = 3

So:

Gemma (1k) --> 1(3) = 3 biscuits

Zak (4k) --> 4(3) = 12 biscuits

think of ratio as parts

for every 5 parts, 4 parts for Gemma and 1 part for Zak

15 biscuits. How many sets of 5

15/5 = 3

calculate how many

3x4 for Gemma = 12

3x1 for Zak = 3
