You will need to come out of your comfort zone in any area of your life to make progress or get different results. I believe, All human beings should be social to a certain extent at least. Being Social is good for your personality development as well. The  more people you talk to, the more better you'll become in dealing with people. You should try to be more social not to just make friends or find a date, It'll teach you a lot as well and help your confidence in dealing with people.

Very social, no.  You have to be just social enough.

There's an old saying that says "If you want a friend, be one.".  It's an old saying for a reason.
