Decision Making and Sociology?

I'm going to report on that topic next week. Do you know where I can find references? Do you have any ideas about the principle of sociology to decision making?

In a democracy, some decision making is by the collective (voting).  The rest is done by individuals with or without influence from society.  Individuals who have self-confidence make their own decisions, others who lack self-confidence tend to rely on the influence of society to make decisions.
