Can I put my fish in carbonated water?

My water supply has been cut due to bacteria found in the system. They say it will be a few days until it is fixed. I need to clean my fish tank but can only fill it back with carbonated water since that is the only liquid I own aside from a few bottles of Pepsi Max. So my question is, could I put my fish in the carbonated water for a few days?

Absolutely not. Carbon Dioxide, the gas in carbonated drinks, is harmful to fish. It is possible to leave the carbonated water in an open container for a while until the gases escape and add dechlorinator, but I would not risk it.

Just wait until your water comes back to clean the tank.
