are all hyenas matriarchal?

i know a lot about SPOTTED hyenas and their wacky gender dynamics, but what about striped and brown hyenas? i think i've read that only spotteds have the interesting genitals but i was wondering if they are also the only ones where females are the bosses.

No. The striped hyena is monogamous, with the male establishing the den with the female, helping her raise and feed when cubs are born.
