How to replace a return pipe on mains combi e30 boiler?

    Turn the boiler off, drain the system, and use compression fittings, soldered joints or a modern crimp-jointing system to fit a new copper pipe to replace the old one. 

    Or you can use modern plastic piping (never mix different systems) but the first two metres of pipe to and from the boiler must still be made of copper.

    Note that most plastic piping systems require support collets to be fitted into the cut pipe ends. Forget those and the joint eventually leaks or suddenly pops right out of the fitting under pressure.
