Do most people know how to take advantage of a lost driver’s license?

I lost mine and I’m worried.  I will report it tomorrow.  Personally I would not know what to do with a lost drover’s license and I don’t think anybody I know knows either.  I wouldn’t even know where to go to sell it.  Are most people this ignorant or would most have an idea?  I live in a majority Hispanic area, so the people here are underprivileged and I assume more likely to use an item like this than to return it to the police station.
