Please help .. What is meant by 'out of the box' here in this context?

Context:

Most USB devices are recognized automatically upon connection and work “out of the box”.

    When you buy the devices, they come in a box. You take it out of the box, plug it in, and it immediately starts working. You do not need to do anything else such as installing software from the internet.

    out of the box is shorthand for "it works without you having to do anything" after unpacking.  Ready to use as soon as you take it out to be used. You would be surprised how many things need some sort of setup or construction, or something, before you can use it in its intended way.  Ikea furniture is definitely not ready for use "Out of the box".

    It means it will work the second you start using it, it doesn't need to have anything done to it beforehand.
