What's the difference between disliking and resenting someone for being cruel or arrogant to you?

One is an emotional reaction and the other one is a logical conclusion.  I've had a few people who crossed my path in Life whom I have disliked.  I just stay away from them or if I have to interact with them, I make it a very brief interaction.  I can't think of anyone who I resent.  Maybe I just don't tolerate the negativity which comes off of them, but I keep a close watch on who comes into my Life, and who doesn't.  People who are resentful I weed out right away.

dislike - I do not prefer. I dislike pain.

resent - Bitter for being treated unfairly. I resent life.
