sin θ = 8/100 => 2/25
sin(θ) = 2/25
25 sin(θ) = 2
Solutions:
θ ≈ 6.2832 n + 3.0615, n element Z
θ ≈ 6.2832 n + 0.080086, n element Z

The gradient of a stretch of road is generally defined as the vertical height compared to the horizontal distance.
i.e. tanθ = 8/100 => 2/25
Hence, θ = 4.8°
However, some texts will define this as vertical height compared to diagonal run or distance.
i.e. sinθ = 8/100 => 2/25
Hence, θ = 4.6°
Note: Engineers and Surveyors will use the former
Note: In the UK if you see a sign that says ''1 in 10'' or 10% it means 1 vertical for every 10 horizontal
