I think Detroit's wasting this mans athleticism because it's been awhile since they been to the playoffs.

No, Matthew Stafford is in his 12th season with the Detroit Lions, and has yet to lead the team either to a division title or a playoff win. If anything, the better question to ask is why the Lions have yet to get rid of Stafford.
