Could the British union survive a republic?

Update:

I think Scotland would be out if there was a President of England, and NI would go for some sort of federalism with the rest of Ireland. The Welsh, I don't know...

    Look at Belgium vs. Switzerland: a monarchy and a republic.  I'm not sure if it makes much of a difference.  

    Look at the US and the string of awful presidents recently: don't pick a republic when you have a perfectly fine royal family.

    Not going to happen. Whether the head of state is a monarch or a president, the fundamental argument is rule from Westminster, not who is wearing the crown.
