Why do people say monopoly very much so US monopoly in the US is out of control and is getting worse?

People also say the US anti trust laws are a joke...Can some one explain the problem to me and how this works?

Consolidation of market power into to few hands is anti-competitive and bad for both the consumer and the economy as a whole

Monopolies have no incentive to be efficient or innovative and use their power to drive off any competitors.
