I know what it is supposed to do.

Coppers love them, As by the time the speeder gets the warning they have already been tagged by the Police Radar Unit, or more likely the Police laser speed sensor.

Some even have equipment that can use the civilians OWN radar against them by using the detectors signal.

Simple units use a dash box,  more sophisticated systems use a device "hidden" in the grill or front bumper area. My state does not outlaw their use, merely their possession as contraband.

So when found can be seized.

Had one poor soul, who put strips of aluminum foil inside his wheel covers. He saw on TV about the British using Chaff to "confuse or blind" the German radar. 😃

They only sometimes work. There are different bands of radar and so sometimes they are using bands that your detector doesnt pick up. Its cheaper to just drive the speed limit. Also someone might break your windows and take your detector if it is high quality
