Are all debit card machines in shops these days chip and pin?
Canines; our cards have been using chip and pin for years surely? When you say swipe do you mean swipe through the machine?
SCATTY c; What do you mean by tap? Do you mean just swiping the card on a smooth surface?

It's all pin and tap these days by default unless an older machine is processing the transaction.

Danger when using a debit card in any store. Use a major credit card especially American Express. Lots of reasons but too tired to type.

Chip, pin and tap.
Swipe is only mostly for gift cards, or when the chip or tap feature gets zapped or worn off.

Most are going that way because they're more secure. Some cards are still swipe only or swipe and pin. Our cards just made the switch last year. Some credit card terminals give me trouble some times, but most are fast and secure. I miss the days of floating checks between paydays.
