    Your f(x) looks good.  To get the inverse you can switch y with x and solve for y (y is f(x)).

    x = 2[ - (y + 4)]² - 3

    x + 3 = 2[ - (y + 4)]²

    (x + 3)/2 = - (y + 4)²

    -(x + 3)/2 = (y + 4)²

    ± √[ - (x + 3)/2] = y + 4

    ± √[ - (x + 3)/2] - 4 = y = f inverse

      (it's not a function)
