What is the inverse of the following function?

    f (x) = x¹′³

         STEP 1. Rename f(x) to y ............y = x¹′³

         STEP 2. Swap x and y .................x = y¹′³

         STEP 3. Solve for y ......................x³ = y

         STEP 4. Rename y to f⁻¹(x) ..........f⁻¹(x) = x³ ................ANS (Option C)

  • y = x^(1/3)

    Switch all x's and y's

    x = y^(1/3)

    Now you have your inverse function.  Solve for y

    x^3 = y^(3/3)

    y^1 = x^3

    y = x^3
