True or False?
The inverse of y=x^2 is a function.

The original function (y = x²) fails the horizontal line test, thus its inverse relation will NOT be a function.
You can see that for any positive value of y, there are *two* values of x that will result in that value (namely a negative and a positive value). So the inverse relation (y = ±√x) is NOT a function.
