How do you get a cat to leave the Christmas tree and ornaments alone??
My cat is 1 years old and its his first time seeing a Christmas tree.

Don't hang ornaments on the bottom branches. Don't hang tinsel. Do get a good squirt bottle and fill with water. When kitty starts up, just squirt. Kitty will learn to avoid the water.

Fence it off.
Squirt the cat with water when he goes near it. When he goes to behave innapropriately tell him NO in a firm tone while removing him from the area. Place aluminium foil or double sided sticky tape all around the tree where he can get access.
Install kitty platforms around the room and if you haven't invested then get a nice big cat tree (Its like an ultra upgraded scratching post/play/sleep area).
Redirect his attention with play elsewhere away from the tree.
Their might be some scent sprays for cats that deter them.

Good luck with that. We buy a box of cheap dollar store ornaments and put them on the bottom branches just for that reason. Every year she'll come along and slap at one until it breaks. If you find a way to stop a cat from doing it. Please tell us! LOL !

My cat inferno, loves to attack Christmas ornaments, not very many cats actually CLIMB trees so we just like to put any special ones up high and any ones that wont break down low, as for lights and tinsel and that stuff, get dark green tinsel so you can see it but the cats cant and it will blend in, lights aren't a problem.

The same way you get a dog to leave it alone. You let them discover it out for themselves. It's the cats first time seeing the tree and it's only one. Keep some toys around and it'll eventually get bored of the tree.

You don't. You keep the cat out of the room the tree is in or you get ornaments that wont break if they get knocked off.
