    o Both are descended from tetrapod forelimb.

    o You can see an "elbow"and a "hand" and they're in the same corresponding places.


    o The bat "hand" has five digits, and they remain separate with the "thumb" outside the wing and the "fingers" spread out to support the wing membrane.  The bird "hand" has only three digits, and in most birds those are pretty well fused together to support the leading edge only.

    o moas (which were birds) did not have wings.  There are no wingless bats.  There are (bizarrely) no flightless bats.
