depends on what the error is, and what type of code you're using.

with any coding, it is best to make small additions or just a few changes, then save a test the code. if you add things piece by piece, a block of code at a time, and expand and test, you will be able to tell quickly where you messed up.

in PHP, for example, most frequently the cause is a missing semicolon, parentheses, or curly bracket.

in HTML, a closing tag (or missing forward slash in a tag) can be the culprit.

but again, it depends on what error you get, and what language.

it could be related to Javascript or CSS...

W3C Markup Validation Service -    It checks your HTML Code for Errors.

    This is the Site:

The first step is to try it (or each page) via the W3C Validator.

Search " The W3C Markup Validation Service" on google to find it.

Try to boast it with a filter

    Then explore it inside-out.

When the flow of execution stops

Then you will have no more doubt.
