Homemade USB Adapter?

I don't want to spend money on an actual adapter, so I thought I'll make one. How do I wire it? It's going to be a USB micro(male) to a USB(Female) adapter so I can use a keyboard with my tablet. I have a dual USB female socket, can I wire up both sockets to use a mouse and keyboard?

Update:

I do have experience in soldering and wiring, my square brain just can't comprehend whether to connect positive to positive or positive to negative.

You can try that - we don't know which tablet you're using... but as a tablet, chances are VERY high there USB connection to those peripherals will not work. No drivers. That's why most tablets use Blue Tooth keyboards and trackpads...
