When you experience chronic stress, the adrenal glands may no longer produce sufficient cortisol and this can lead to adrenal insufficiency. Although adrenal fatigue is not an official diagnosis, it is thought that adrenal insufficiency can lead to adrenal fatigue. To treat this, changes can be made to the diet, or your doctor may suggest the addition of specific vitamins or minerals to your daily routine.

"Adrenal fatigue syndrome" is a made up term, an invention, by an alternative practitioner.

There is a serious real medical condition called "adrenal insufficiency" which is under production from the adrenal glands due to damage, disease or lack of signal hormones from the pituitary gland.

"Adrenal insufficiency" is diagnosed by blood tests and treated with supplementary medication.

Is there such a thing as adrenal fatigue?

"Answer From Ann Kearns, M.D., Ph.D.

Adrenal fatigue isn't an accepted medical diagnosis. It is a lay term applied to a collection of nonspecific symptoms, such as body aches, fatigue, nervousness, sleep disturbances and digestive problems."
