Should I learn to make plain sandwiches to lose weight?
Instead of ranch dressing or BBQ sauce.... No sauce. Maybe add flaxseed powder.

Ideally you should learn to eat healthier in general. A moderate amount of condiments on a sandwich are fine. Olive oil based mayonnaise (small amount) is okay, and typically yellow mustard has very few calories so you can load up on that if you like. If you want ranch dressing, look for Bolthouse Farms brand in the produce section (refrigerated case) at your supermarket. It's yogurt based and has only 45 calories/serving.

There are many ways to reduce the high calorie items and/or make healthier swaps, if one is looking to eat more healthy for weight loss or maintenance.

No sauces that have sugars. Ranch dressing can't make you fat. It's a biochemical fact.
UNLESS you ate too much (>2000C every day).
Also UNLESS it's made with corn-fed animal products, but still, LOTS.
