What do I have to do if a receptacle got scorched?
One of the receptacles got scorched due the use of a portal heater. I obviously stopped using it. What is the next action do I have to take? Will this be dangerous even if I do not use it anymore?

Not dangerous if unused. The part is less than $2.00 if you know someone who can change it for you.

not dangerous as long as it isn't used at all. and, you'll want to replace that

You should replace the outlet and, while you're at it, inspect the wiring in the outlet for signs of damage (scorching, melted insulation, etc).

It's an easy DIY replacement, and cheap also. If you are not comfortable with changing it yourself a handyman can easily handle it.

Kill the breaker, then replace it, make sure you match the amps to what is there and all your confections, are tight.
