Or lester square

Lester. Just one of the little tricks we have for foreigners.
Scotland has its own weirdly spelt places that even confuse the English.

Lester........ exacly the same as Leicester ( Lester) the city

Lester - like the city. The Square is actually named after a person, Robert Sidney, 2nd Earl of Leicester. When pronunciation became standardised in the 18th century, names with Roman origins like Leicester, Gloucester and Worcester, were made two syllable words by not pronouncing the c. (-cester is an Anglo Saxon variant of the Latin for encampment, which was the origin of these settlements)
